As a Church we have spent the last 20 weeks over some 8 months looking that the life of the Christian as Jesus outlined in the Sermon on the Mount.
Key Quotes from recent speakers:
“What Jesus spoke of in The Sermon on the Mount would be unrecognisable as Christianity in this Country – It is not what they would assess it as at all” – Tim Jones CCK
“Are we going to agree with the Sermon on the Mount, or are we going to do it? Are we going to agree with the Radical Life Series or are we going to live it?” – Doug Curties
“Our success is not found in adding yet more rules to the law. Our success is found in the sermon giver – in Jesus himself” - Andy Robinson

The Radical Life of the Normal ChristianWe often use the word “radical” not to make Christianity or the Christian life something more than the bible says it is, but to raise it up over what it has become! Andy ponders the life the Bible calls us to, what the Bible considers the “Normal Christian Life” and concludes it is nothing like the inheritance previous generations have left us. The bible teaches of a normal Christian life that when compared to what we have allowed Christianity to become can only be described as RADICAL! |

LUSTWe live in a world where sex is a god. Pornography is freely available on the internet, and underage sex is the norm. Lust in our culture is a way of life where people move from one relationship to another as their eyes lead them. We may have moved on in many ways over the last 2,000 years, but Solomon was right when he said “there is nothing new under the sun”. Find out how you can live the Radical Normal Christian life. |

Love Your EnemiesPhil spoke on the command by Jesus to be radical in our love towards our enemies through our words, actions and prayers. This radical love demonstrates the love of the Father for all people and shows we are His children. This is the kingdom DNA. This love is supernatural and has to be first personally received and experienced before we can give it out. Its goal is to bring others into a relationship with the Father. Phil finished by looking at the issues of pacifism and just wars. |

Giving God’s WayDo we tithe or has God given us a new pattern for our giving? Phil explores what the New Testament has to say on the subject. How to avoid “letting our left hand know what our right hand is doing” and how God wants free and “hysterical giving”! |

FastingAndy discusses Fasting as the lost weapon of Prayer. Looking at Jesus example, His expectation on Christians to fast. The examples of the Apostles and the Early Church demonstrated that fasting was clearly a part of their lives both individually and corporately. What then can we learn and how do we put it into practice. Andy also looks at the role fasting played in Jesus receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit and Him over coming temptation and operating in the Power of the Holy Spirit |

Earthly or Heavenly TreasureAndy looks at our motives in the treasures we hold on to. Looking at money, possessions and eternity Andy examines how easy it is to pursue things, good things, even things like ministry and spiritual gifts, and allow them to become “Earthly Desires” as we slip away from God’s mission and glory and become focused on the prestige, status, power and recognition those gifts bring us. In the passage Jesus challenges us to live a different way. (Video Shown) |

Don’t Be AnxiousJesus talks in Matthew 6 24 – 34 about worry and anxiety. This is a very relevant topic in today’s society where we are constantly bombarded with images and suggestions on how to look and feel better, be more attractive, more stylish, more successful , wealthier etc. etc. These images tug at our own desires and feed our natural selfish natures to the point where we can lose sight of the real treasure! This passage gives 8 reasons why we should NOT worry. |

Do Not JudgeIn this sermon Andy looks at how Jesus calls us to live as Radical Christians in the area of community together. Jesus challenges not judging in any context, but judging as a hypocrite. We condemn those who drive at 100mph, but are happy to drive at 80mph ourselves. It is this hypocritical judgment that Jesus condemns in this passage from the Sermon on the Mount. Judging each other is something that we readily do, sometimes without even thinking about it. Often we are very critical of others and very generous to ourselves |

False ProphetsAndy speaks in this sermon about False Prophets and examines Jesus word to us to examine them and to test them by their fruit. He looks at the differences between O.T. Prophets and N.T. Prophets and how, under the new covenant God’s manifold wisdom is expressed through the entire church, not just in 1 Prophet, 1 Priest and 1 King as in the Old Testament. Jesus came and he is now our prophet, priest and king and he has sent his holy spirit that we might all partake of His gifts as a body of many parts |

Wise and Foolish BuildersDoug posed some questions, which we should ask ourselves to reveal the depth of our own foundations in the context of this passage. It is not the sun but the storm that reveals the adequacy of our foundations. We are to be doers of the Word not just hearers. |

Who is this Teacher?Andy concludes the Sermon on the Mount series by asking the question “Who is this teacher”. In all other aspects of life the teaching is the most important things, but here Andy reminds us that we need to look to the teacher. If we are to live the Radical Life of the Normal Christian we must look to the source of the teaching and allow him to be our source and supply. We need him with us and in us. It is “Christ in us that is our hope of glory”. |
